Home Health Care is an expanding service that is available to allow individuals to receive care that was once only available through admission to a hospital. Home Health is a service provided in the home to those requiring a skilled need that can only be provided by a health care professional. Skilled needs may include IV therapy, wound care, catheter change, certain medication injections, patient teaching or physical therapy. The care may be delivered by a variety of health care professionals including therapists, nurses and social workers.

Personnel are assigned according to the needs of the patient. Home Care services are often used for short term situations to assist the patient in reaching greater independence. Home Health Care services must be ordered by a physician.
